"Street Heroes" is a spin-off of Soft Buffers. The backdrop for this narrative is a settlement, primarily comprising unlawfully constructed buildings in Ždrijec, just across the street from the town of Nin. Ždrijac, in its current state, has grown near and dear to us, offering a unique charm. The density of these structures fosters a sense of positivity and neighborly bonds, uniting people in this tight-knit community. Ždrijac holds a special place in our hearts, with each house being a personal reflection of its owner, presenting them in the best light to the street. There's no anonymity here, and it seems that, over time, this unconventional construction style may evolve into a new local tradition.

The question now is, how should we continue building in this area? The blueprint for constructing new houses follows the lead of the "street heroes," based on the actual residences in Ždrijec but incorporating expanded outdoor spaces. These street heroes, embodied by the figures of "grandfather" and "grandmother," symbolize the outdoor spaces of each home, from balconies and terraces to loggias, gazebos, and gardens. Without these outdoor spaces, a house would stand lonely and faceless.

These street heroes recently voiced their concerns and participated in an online forum for young architects - the Europan 15 Inter-Sessions Forum. There, they made their presence known for the first time, articulating their existence and asserting their rights in front of a youthful European architectural audience. Let's lend an ear and allow them to continue their unique existence.
